The European research project Interreg III B entitled The Terraced Landscapes of the Alpine Arc ( terraced areas of the Alps ) is deals with terraced landscapes in Central Europe, examines the causes, the extent and condition of their collapse and try to identify ways in which they replenishment. Slovenian part of the project includes in its activities the embodiment terraces of vines. The experience was summed up in this publication is divided into two parts.

The first part is a brief description of the policies for the regulation of permanent crops on the terraces . They should be informed about all those who seek to address the planning and execution patio .

The second part presents the course of implementation arrangements patio on the selected plot in Medana in Goriška brda . The specific nature of this vineyard is making a plan for the implementation of the terraced vineyard . The literature can be traced suggestions to produce a recovery plan for vineyards on the terraces back in 1959th Daily terracing is not carried out according to pre-designed plan but mostly based on practice and experience of wine-growers , agricultural experts and practitioners - machinists .

The purpose of the design is to regulate the terraces so that their implementation is planned in all its extent based on reliable data and in a well- thought-out steps and therefore the expected consequences.

Such implementation arrangements patio is more rational : it reduces the risk of landslide , providing shorter execution time terraces and achieving the largest share of beneficial areas. Execution patio in Medana called pilot mainly because it is a first collaboration of its kind between the experts of agricultural , construction and the architectural profession .

The issue of the publication is to provide an outline of the experience gained during the the project.

Guidelines are therefore intended to :

- Farmers governing terraces ;

- The contractor carrying out earthworks for the execution of them;

- Agricultural advisors ;

- The manufacturer plans to implement the patio .
